According to, the average medical biller and coder salary falls between $33,937 and $39,711. Plus, there are many opportunities to expand your career and increase your pay. You could qualify to become a Certified Coding Associate (CCA) or a Certified Professional Coder (CPC). Both certificates require you to pass an exam and complete six months or two years of on-the-job experience, respectively. Another option is to return to school and become a  medical and health services manager. This position requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree, and individuals usually make over $100,000 annually.
