The National Safety Council is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to save lives by preventing injuries and deaths at work, in homes and communities, and on the road. Founded in 1913 and chartered by Congress, the National Safety Council relies on research to determine optimal solutions to safety issues. Its educational efforts aim to change behaviors by building awareness, providing training and sharing best practices.
Through the Georgia State Board of Workers’ Compensation, employers are able to be certified employers as a drug-free workplace. The mission of the State Board of Workers’ Compensation is to provide superior access to programs for injured workers and employers in a manner that is sensitive, responsive and effective, and to ensure efficient processing and swift, fair resolution of claims, while encouraging workplace safety and return to work.
Since 1903 the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce has helped its members and its community grow and prosper. Education is a strong focus of this Chamber. The Athens Chamber offers many benefits to both the community and its members, such as providing leadership, working to reduce the county’s poverty rate and focusing on workforce development.
